Camille Fu

Piano Faculty Biography

Dr. Fu is an outstanding international pianist and music educator. Born in Taipei, Taiwan, she was the top prize winner in the Czech Republic’s 2001 Kromeriz International Festival Competition, where she performed as the soloist with the Kromeriz International Symphony Orchestra. In 2002, she was invited to perform for the Eisemann Center’s opening concert series in Richardson, Texas as a solo pianist.  Most recently she received the Texas Music Teachers Association’s “Outstanding Presentation Award.”

As an international pianist and pedagogue, Dr. Fu has been heard as an orchestral soloist, recitalist, collaborative chamber musician, coaches and lecturer.  Her United States concerts have primarily included Los Angeles, San Francisco, Colorado Springs, and Dallas, and she has appeared in the Czech Republic, Europe as well as Taipei, Taichung, and Kaushung, Taiwan.  In addition to these performances, she has been invited to conduct master classes and deliver lectures.  Dr. Fu has also acted as an active adjudicator for Texas Music Teachers State Conventions, major piano competitions, and festivals in the North Texas area and in Taiwan since 2002.  Her students have won prizes in the Mountain View Competition in Plano, Texas, the Dallas Solo Piano Competition, and various competitions in Taiwan.   Currently, she has settled down in the North Texas area.  She has held several teaching positions at the Hwa-Hsing Chinese School in Plano, Texas, the Youth Summer Music Camp at the University of Texas in Arlington, the visiting professor for the Column Summer Music Festival in Taipei, Taiwan and her own piano studio in Plano, Texas.

Besides her performing and teaching experiences, her broad professional trainings have brought her diverse titles.  Dr. Fu is an international writer and language interpreter. Her articles on piano pedagogy have been in demand from publishers in Taiwan, and she has been asked to translate Joseph Banowetz’s book, The Pianist’s Guide to Pedaling, for publication in Taiwan.  Dr. Fu has worked extensively with the music instruction methods of Kodaly and Suzuki, and in June, 1999, Dr. Fu was invited to act as the official interpreter for the Suzuki International Conference and Workshop in San Francisco.  Since 1999, Dr. Fu has acted as the official Music Advisor for the Dallas Asian American Youth Orchestra.

Dr. Fu received her Ph.D. in music at the University of North Texas where she received the honor award, Pi Kappa Lambda Honor Society membership, and studied with legendary pianist, Joseph Banowetz.  Before she came to Texas, Dr. Fu earned her Master’s Degree in Piano Performance at the University of Southern California.
